LINCOLN PARK. Occupying an elegant space in what was once a grand hotel, Ambria has Old World style and Art Nouveau flair. Four tasting menus, along with an extensive list of entrées, let guests indulge in seared sea bass with sautéed leeks, rack of petite lamb spiked with rosemary, and venison with blackberry sauce and wild rice cakes. On-site sommelier Bob Bansberg is a welcome mainstay, bringing a vast knowledge to guide patrons.

UPTOWN. Outstanding Med and Lebanese food consistently comes from this Andersonville kitchen. The large menu includes a mix of meat and vegetarian options (vegan options too). Roast lamb with couscous, Moroccan chicken with apricots, and Mediterranean eggplant are just a few of the goodies that await. The dining room's fireplace, high ceilings, large windows, and warm tones put diners at ease and provide a welcoming ambiance. Smart casual dress.

LAKE VIEW. Ann Sather's offers Swedish and American breakfast favorites, including unrivaled cinnamon rolls that people speak of with solemn reverence. The Swedish pancakes are thin and full of flavorful lingonberries. It gets quite crowded at breakfast, particularly on weekends. WRIGLEYVILLE. This authentic Spanish restaurant has a garden/patio dining area in the back and large windows that open to the street in the front. Classic tapas are notable ­ the menu boasts a collection of more than 40 offerings. The decor is basic; all the energy goes into making the finest tapas. Try chicken croquettes or marinated mushrooms, and have a margarita or sangria to top it off.

GREEKTOWN. Artopolis prides itself on producing fresh-baked goods in its own kitchen. The place's name comes from a combination of the words "artos" and "polis" (bread and town, respectively), and the menu features a variety of breads, pizzas, sandwiches, salads, and classic Greek dishes. The dessert menu includes specialty coffees and organic teas. A selection of Greek beers and wines is also available.
